Longtime Patriot Matthew Slater announces retirement

FOXBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — After 16 seasons, many leading the third phase of the Patriots’ game, team captain Matthew Slater has announced his retirement from the NFL.

Coming to the Patriots as a fifth round draft pick in 2008, Slater quickly became a special teams standout, showing versatility in the kicking and receiving game.

Slater is a three-time Super Bowl champion, and a ten-time Pro Bowler with the Patriots.
