PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A longtime veteran of the Providence Police Department will join the Rhode Island DCYF in August.

Captain Dean Isabella will serve as the department’s newest Assistant Director of Child Protective Services. Isabella will oversee the DCYF’s Child Protective Services investigations.

Isabella began his law enforcement career with Providence Police in 1987. He has since served as Commander of the Special Projects Unit, Acting Director of the Providence Emergency Management Agency, and as an adjunct faculty member at Roger Williams University.

“He was chosen for this position because his knowledge of and focus on safety and risk for children and youth within families and within communities will be a critical asset to the Department,” said DCYF spokesperson Kerri White.

The DCYF also said Isabella is known for building strong partnerships with the community and as a team leader.

Isabella will start in his new role on August 5.
