PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Rhode Island‘s first female governor will celebrate her inauguration with several low-key, free events that are open to the public.

Democrat Gina Raimondo will be sworn in Tuesday. Raimondo won’t be holding a lavish gala, as is planned in other states.

Raimondo’s inaugural events will be paid for by well-to-do individuals and companies donating up to $15,000 to the inauguration.

A spokeswoman for the inaugural committee says the events are expected to cost around $100,000, and a list of donors will be released this week.

Raimondo and the state’s other newly elected general officers are all holding parties Tuesday evening at restaurants near the WaterFire route.

Jorge Elorza is being sworn in Monday as Providence mayor and will celebrate his inauguration with a party at the old Cranston Street Armory.
