Lt. Governor Sabina Matos to bring awareness to children in foster care

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Lt. Governor Sabina Matos, the Rhode Island Department of Children Youth and Families, and a coalition of Rhode Island child welfare organizations will host a ceremony today in honor of Foster Care Awareness Month.

The event, happening at the State House this morning, will bring awareness to recognize the importance of providing foster youth with strong support systems.

As of February of 2023, there were over 1,000 children in Rhode Island’s foster care system.
