Lusi resigns as Providence Schools Superintendent

By News Staff
The superintendent of Providence Pubic Schools will resign her position at the end of the school year, just months after having her contract extended.
Dr. Susan Lusi said she is proud of her accomplishments but that it is time to pursue other professional opportunities.
Mayor Jorge Elorza thanked Lusi for her service to the school system.
Elorza says the search for Lusi’s replacement will begin immediately and says the daily operations of the schools will function without disruption.
During Lusi’s four year tenure, graduating rates rose, dropout rates declined and reading scores have improved.
In January, her contract was extended for the 2015-16 school year.
