Macy’s plans to remain in Providence Place Mall

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Macy’s plans to keep its Providence Place Mall location open, according to a statement from the company.

The Boston Globe reported that the Providence Place Mall Macy’s store had been listed for sale.

The company is striving to “create a more modern Macy’s, Inc,” according to the statement, with approximately 150 locations slated to be closed while 350 “go-forward fleet” locations receiving further investments.

The company said a final decision on which locations will close hasn’t been made.
