Magaziner to reintroduce Prevent Illegal Gun Sales Act

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Congressman Seth Magaziner will be joined by one of providence’s finest, as he announces a new bill to help curb the sale of illegal guns.

The congressman will be joined by Providence Police Chief Colonel Oscar Perez, gun safety advocates and the families of those lost to or affected by gun violence for the press conference.

The congressman will reintroduce his Prevent Illegal Gun Sales Act, which would see more frequent inspections of firearms dealers, and an increase in penalties for failing to perform federally required background checks.

A companion piece of legislation was introduced in the Senate by Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey.
