Maine earthquake felt in Southeastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) —  A 3.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in the area of York Harbor, Maine Monday morning at approximately 10:22 a.m., according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake, which occurred just off the coast of the Maine town, has also been felt locally, according to multiple postings on social media.

The minor quake comes less than a year after a New Jersey earthquake was also felt here in New England.

York Harbor is an approximately two hour drive and 122 miles from Providence.

The earthquake was originally classified as a 4.1 magnitude, and was then downgraded to 3.9, and now 3.8.
