Major flooding continues along the Pawtuxet; cold and quiet through week’s end

Major flooding has continued today in the wake of Monday’s storm – but not from the sky or the sea this time.
This beautiful December Tuesday has been marred in the communities or Cranston and Warwick due to the rising water of the Pawtuxet River.
While other rivers across Rhode Island are also in flood stages, such as the Blackstone, Wood and Pawcatuck, none have reached the level of the Pawtuxet.
As of Tuesday evening, the river has crested at 15.11′ – the second highest ever recorded. It splits up the former 1-2 events, which both occurred in March of 2010.
Businesses and homes along the river bank have been greatly impacted, with all of yesterday’s rain water emptying into it.
The river is forecast to remain in major flood stage through Wednesday before finally receding by the end of the week. Thankfully, no rain is expected for the next week.
