Man accused of attacking Taunton police officers with knife to have court hearing

TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A man accused of attacking Taunton police officers with a knife last month will appear in court Tuesday.
Douglas Hagerty, 35, is set to face a judge in Taunton District Court for a dangerousness hearing.
He faces numerous charges stemming from an incident where he allegedly slashed several officers after leading them on a chase and crashing into a house.

Hagerty, who was known to police prior to the incident, was ordered held without bail at his arraignment.
Police said Hagerty slashed one officer in the face and the back of his head.
That officer was flown to a Boston hospital and underwent surgery. He is now in recovery.
A second officer and Chief Ed Walsh were also treated for stab wounds.
The incident remains under investigation.
