Man accused of attempted arson of predominantly black church to be sentenced

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The North Providence man who admitted he tried to burn down a predominantly black church in the town will be sentenced Tuesday.

Kevin Colantonio was arrested last February after several fires were set at the Shiloh Gospel Temple.

Security footage showed him buying the gas and the lighter he used just minutes before it happened.

Through a Ring camera, the church pastor identified Colantonio attempting to break into the church.

After he was arrested, Colantonio threw his own bodily waste at two guards at the Wyatt Detention Center which came with an assault charge.
