Man accused of drop kicking, killing, girlfriend’s dog

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- A Providence man was arrested on Thursday afternoon after his girlfriend’s dog was found dead in a shopping bag.

Providence Police said that 29-year-old Devon Hernandez was charged with malicious injury to or killing of animals.

Hernandez allegedly picked up the dog, Davinci, forcefully threw him down, and repeatedly kicked him, according to the police report.

Police said that Hernandez could be seen carrying the dog, wrapped in a red sweater, outside of the apartment on a surveillance camera. Davinci looked lifeless in the footage.

The incident came after Davinci urinated on the bed, the report says.

Police found the dog dead inside of a PriceRite bag at the intersection Whitmarsh and Updike, according to the report.
