Man accused of killing 17-year-old in 2023 to be arraigned

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A man accused of shooting a 17-year-old in Providence back in 2023 is set to be arraigned in Superior Court today.
25-year-old Samuel Medina is accused of shooting and killing Darnell Whitford in July of 2023 on Dexter and Waldo Street.
Police said Whitford was walking with a female friend, when a car pulled up next to them.
Medina and and several other men then allegedly exited the car and began arguing with the teenager.
Officials said Medina shot Whitford and took off.
Medina would later turn himself in to police.
He will be arraigned at 9:30 a.m. this morning.
