Man accused of killing cat during domestic dispute in Mansfield

MANSFIELD, Mass.(WLNE) — A Mansfield is facing charges after he is accused of killing a cat during a domestic dispute Thursday.

According to Mansfield police, officers went to a home on North Main Street for a domestic disturbance around 8 p.m.

Police said a person was assaulted and officers also found a cat that appeared to be severely beaten.

The cat was taken to an animal hospital where it had to be euthanized due to its injuries.

Police subsequently charged a 29-year-old man with assault and battery on an intimate partner and cruelty to an animal.

The man was held without bail following a hearing Friday.

The name of the suspect is being withheld due to the crime involving domestic violence.
