Man arraigned after 9-hour standoff in Warwick
WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — The man accused of barricading himself in a residence attic with a firearm on Oct. 6 was arraigned on Tuesday, according to court records.
33-year-old Tyler Bagley was charged with domestic felony assault, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a crime of violence, and two counts of domestic disorderly conduct.
Police responded to a home on Blake Street around 12:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call claiming an occupant was in possession of a firearm and acting belligerently.
The 911 caller, the suspect’s sister, and two residents exited the building per police request.
According to police, Bagley refused to exit the home and barricaded himself in the attic of the home with a firearm.
Police added that Bagley was known to police and was prohibited from firearm possession.
Warwick Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics and Crisis Negotiation arrived on the scene and Bagley allegedly continued to refuse compliance with officers.
Police had attempted to convince the defendant to exit the residence over the phone, as well as through other methods that “failed to resolve the matter.”
SWAT entered the residence around 9:30 a.m. and allegedly found Bagley in possession of a firearm.
Bagley was taken into custody without incident and transported to Kent Hospital for an evaluation.
Nobody was injured.
