Man arrested after allegedly fleeing traffic stop at Warwick Mall

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — A man is in police custody after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop at the Warwick Mall Wednesday night.

According to the Warwick Police Department, an officer attempted to stop a car in the area of the Warwick Mall after they said it was driving recklessly.

The suspect, only identified at this time as a man, then fled the scene of the stop which prompted a large search, police said.

After K9 units were called to the area, the suspect was later located in the area of Apple Cinemas at the mall.

ABC 6 News crews were at the Warwick Mall where EMTs could be seen treating the suspect. He was later taken from the scene in a police cruiser.

Police said the suspect was taken to the Warwick Police Department where he is being held pending charges of reckless driving and resisting arrest.

No further information was immediately available as the investigation is ongoing.
