Man arrested after allegedly threatening to bring gun to hospital, Oak Bluffs Police say

OAK BLUFFS, Mass. (WLNE) — The Oak Bluffs Police Department said a man was arrested after he allegedly threatened to bring a gun to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital on Sept. 14.
67-year-old Stephen Green was charged with terroristic threats.
Police said officers responded to a report of a man who had threatened to bring a shotgun to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital around 8 a.m.
According to Oak Bluffs police, Green had initially called the hospital regarding a bill he had received.
During the call, the hospital employee told the defendant that the billing department was closed and that he could speak to them on the next business day.
Green then allegedly said he would be in the hospital with a shotgun, prompting the employee to contact hospital security.
Oak Bluffs police were contacted by the hospital and began investigating the call, and determined that “this shotgun would be used in its capacity as a deadly weapon against the staff at the hospital, and that this implied threat did thereby cause fear and anxiety to the staff of the hospital.”
Officers were able to communicate with Green over the phone, who “immediately made incriminating statements and stated he made a mistake,” police said.
After meeting with Green at a business in Tisbury, the defendant allegedly “made more incriminating statements” and was arrested.
Green was arraigned in Edgartown District Court on Monday, and his bail was set at $300.
