WARWICK, R.I. – A man is facing several felony charges after committing three separate crimes within the same night says Warwick Police.
John Chiellini, 43, with a last known address in West Warwick was arrested after two attempted robberies and an attempted breaking and entering.
Police say the first incident occurred on Thursday at 11:00 p.m., when a call came in from employees at the Extended Stay America hotel on West Natick Road.
Chiellini threatened the clerk with a gun, which was never shown, but fled the hotel before obtaining anything.
A short time later around 1:30 a.m., officers responded to a Shell “Seasons” gas station on Quaker Lane, where for the second time, Chiellini entered the store and threatened the clerk with a gun, which was never shown, and demanded money from the register.
Authorities noted Chiellini fled from the gas station with two items, and to end the night, he attempted to break into a Subway Sandwich Shop on Bald Hill Road by smashing the front door with a rock around 3:17a.m., to no avail.
Chiellini was arrested and arraigned on the following three felony charges:
- Assault with Intent to Commit Robbery—for the Extended Stay incident.
- First Degree Robbery—for the Shell “Seasons” store incident.
- Attempted Breaking and Entering—for the Subway Sandwich Shop incident.
Sources told ABC6 News Chiellini is being held at the Adult Correctional Institute (ACI) awaiting trial.
