Man arrested for alleged DUI with child in car

LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) — Lincoln police have arrested an Attleboro man for an alleged DUI with his young son in the back seat.
James Colbert, 32, was found sleeping in a vehicle on Old River Road partially parked on a residential lawn and walkway on Wednesday, according to police.
Colbert was allegedly found to show signs of intoxication including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol.
Colbert performed field sobriety tests and was arrested on charges of DUI (first offense), driving under the influence with a child under 13, refusal to submit to a preliminary breath test, refusal to submit to a chemical test and leaving lane of travel.
The child was released to a family member at the scene and DCYF has been notified of the incident.
Colbert was arraigned and released and will appear at RITT on August 5 for refusal charges and on August 19 for criminal charges.
