Man arrested for allegedly stealing from multiple Fall River churches
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fall River Police Department said that a man was arrested for allegedly stealing from two churches in the city on multiple occasion.
36-year-old Joseph Costa was charged with three counts of breaking and entering a building in the daytime for a felony and two counts of larceny over $1,200.
Police said that Holy Name Church on Hanover Street was broken into on June 22, July 6, and July 8, while Saint Anthony of the Desert Church on North Eastern Avenue was broken into on March 28.
The department said that $7,300 total was stolen from Holy Name Chruch, while a set of keys were stolen from Saint Anthony.
Surveillance footage from the two locations and witness statement from the area allegedly contained a man matching Costa’s appearance, and he was arrested on July 8.
