Man arrested in Bellingham stabbing

BELLINGHAM, Mass. (WLNE) – Bellingham police have arrested a suspect involved in the stabbing of a middle-aged man that took place on Friday afternoon, says Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr.

After receiving a 911 call at 1:23 p.m., police found the victim inside of a Maple Street home.  He was transported to UMass-Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition.

Police arrested 58-year-old William J. Sterling of Bellingham, who was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.  Sterling will be arraigned in Milford District Court on Monday.

The incident remains under investigation by the State Police Detectives assigned to Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and the Bellingham Police.
