Man arrested for East Providence playground shooting

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The man responsible for the East Providence Hull St. Park shooting and robbery has been arrested, the East Providence Police Department shared Thursday.
Jose Hernandez, 20, of Pawtucket was taken into custody on Wednesday morning by the Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force.
The shooting took place on Dec. 26, leaving one man injured. The victim has been released from the hospital, authorities stated.
Hernandez has been charged with the following:
- Assault with intent to commit a felony
- First degree robbery
- Using a firearm when committing a crime of violence
- License or permit required for carrying a pistol
- Firing in a compact area
- Conspiracy
The police department also shared that Hernandez violated his probation on two previous robbery charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
