FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Fall River police arrested a man after the attempted abduction of a young girl in Providence last week.

Officials said 45-year-old Marc Pierre was arrested Monday evening after allegedly attempting to abduct a ten-year-old girl on March 7.

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. at the bus stop on Nashua Street near North Main Street.

The 10-year-old girl told police she was violently grabbed by a man who tried to pull her into a van when she got off the bus, but she broke free.

Authorities said Pierre was charged as a fugitive from justice based on the existence of an arrest warrant out of Rhode Island.
