Man arrested in St. Mary’s Feast shooting appears in court
WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — A 28-year-old man accused of firing his gun near the St. Mary’s Feast in Cranston over the summer faced a judge today.
Michael Mancini was arrested back in July on several charges, including firing in a compact area and possession of cocaine.
The shooting happened during the summer at a bar and restaurant near the St. Mary’s Feast on Phenix Avenue.
Cranston police, who were already in the area, heard a gunshot at 39 West Restaurant and Lounge.
Officials responded, and said they found Mancini in a fight with another person.
Body cam footage from Cranston police shows officials taking Mancini to the ground as authorities tried to take his gun.
According to police, after they apprehended Mancini and the gun, they discovered Mancini had allegedly shot himself in the leg during the fight.
Authorities said they also allegedly found cocaine on him.
Mancini was arraigned in court on two felony charges, including carrying a gun without a license, and carrying a gun with large ammo capacity.
He also faces multiple misdemeanor charges, including resisting arrest.
He entered no plea, and his bail was set at $10,000.
Mancini will be back in court in February.
