Man caught on surveillance urinating on Pride flag in Norton
NORTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Norton police said a large wooden Pride flag was vandalized in town.
A resident police that home surveillance footage captured a man stopping at their flag and urinating on it.
The homeowner said about 100 small Pride flag signs were distributed to neighbors and businesses throughout the town too, but many were stolen as soon as they started going up.
Police said they were initially unsure if it was an act of hate, but now believe it was after further reviewing the surveillance footage.
“You know, I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt and thought, ‘Maybe he was just walking home and didn’t realize what he was doing,'” said Val Cabral, a Norton resident. “But he clearly moves and, like, gets on his tip-toes to try to get it onto the sign itself.”
Norton police are searching for the man responsible.
