Man charged after fatal crash near Sagamore Bridge

BOURNE, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police said a man was charged after a fatal multi-car crash near the Sagamore Bridge on Aug. 9.

19-year-old Paul Myers, of Plymouth, was charged with driving under the influence.

Police said Myers was driving in the left lane of Route 6 West around 7 p.m.

He then allegedly attempted to illegally pass in the right lane, which caused him to crash into another car travelling in the right lane.

The car hit the curb, spun across the median, and collided head-on with a car travelling in the opposite direction.

Police said the crash resulted in the death of 79-year-old woman Martha Sheldon and serious injuries to an 83-year-old male, who were both in the car Myers allegedly hit.

The incident is still under investigation.
