Man charged in multi-town shots fired incident

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — The Smithfield Police Department said that the man accused of firing a gun at a the Citizens Bank Campus in Johnston has been charged.

44-year-old Stephan Valentino was charged with carrying a pistol without a license and carrying a weapon while intoxicated, among several other charges.

Police said they received a BOLO from West Greenwich police for a suspect who was considered armed and dangerous.

Employees at the bank, meanwhile, were under a shelter-in-place after shots were fired around 9:30 a.m.

Smithfield police said they found Valentino in a parked car in town with a firearm.
