Man charged in Swansea burning vehicle crash

SWANSEA, Mass. (WLNE) — Swansea police have charged a driver in the case of Thursday’s head-on crash.

53-year-old Timothy Couturier was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, failure to notify RMV of name or address change, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and wrong way vehicle.

Crews were dispatched to Swansea Mall Drive around 8 p.m. for reports of a crash in which Couturier was allegedly traveling northbound on the southbound lanes.

Couturier was transported to an area hospital after being extricated from his car by firefighters.

The driver of the other vehicle, 20-year-old Tristan Tucker of Swansea, remains hospitalized after being pulled from his burning vehicle.

Police said his condition is unknown.
