Man charged with murder in deadly Taunton shooting held without bail
TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A man accused of fatally shooting a man in a car outside a Taunton home was held without bail at his arraignment Monday.
Dustin Humanes, 36, faces murder and illegal gun charges in the shooting death of Alvaro Andrade on Friday morning.
The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said Humanes was arrested that afternoon in Fall River after police found he checked into Saint Anne’s Hospital under a fake name.
Taunton police responded to a Winthrop Street home at about 8 a.m. on Friday for a report of shots fired.
Officers found Andrade, 33, in the driver’s seat of a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee suffering from gunshot wounds.
“Mr. Humanes was in the front seat, Mr. Andrade was in the driver’s seat and there was a third guy in the back seat. They were smoking crack in the car. At some point in time, Mr. Humanes comes into possession of a firearm, fires three shots, hitting Andrade in the side of the head, killing him almost instantly,” the prosecutor told the judge in Taunton District Court Monday.
Police said the homicide investigation is active and ongoing.
Humanes is due back in court Aug. 16.
