WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — The Warwick Police Department said a Warwick man was arrested after attempting to rob a bank Monday.

28-year-old Oliver Courtney is charged with one count of second degree robbery.

On Monday morning, Courtney was arrested at Santander Bank on Post Road following an alleged attempted robbery.

During the incident, Courtney allegedly made a gesture with his hands that would be interpreted as a gun, but was not actually armed, according to Warwick police.

Nobody inside the bank was injured.

Courtney was held without bail after he appeared at Kent County Court Monday afternoon.

Police said the defendant’s next hearing will be held the following week.
