Man convicted of posing as flight attendant to take over 120 free flights
MIAMI, FL (WLNE) — Flights are expensive, so we save up cash and sky miles, even bite on pitches from airlines mid-flight to sign up for credit cards to score automatic points.
One man took his love of travel even further, landing him a wire fraud conviction in Miami.
Tiron Alexander, 35, was convicted by a federal jury on June 5 for posing as a flight attendant, tagging along on over 120 free flights from 2018-2024.
Alexander was convicted of wire fraud and entering into a secure area of an airport by false pretenses, according to the United States Attorney’s Office Southern District of Florida.
Alexander used an airline carrier website to book free flights that were only available to pilots and flight attendants, totaling 34 flights posing as another airline’s flight attendant.
All told, Alexander claimed that he worked for seven different airlines and had roughly 30 different badge numbers and dates of hire.
Alexander also used similar tactics to get free flights on three other airlines.
Alexander will be sentenced on August 25.
