Man faces several charges after six hour standoff in Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — A Dartmouth man is now facing several additional charges related to a six hour stand off Saturday afternoon.
Dartmouth police said they initially attempted to arrest 20-year-old Jack Gifford on an outstanding warrant at his home on Dartmouth Street around 10 a.m.
Gifford picked up a knife, and barricaded himself inside of his home, police said.
After multiple times of trying to arrest Gifford, “both negotiators and S.W.A.T. team members from the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council were requested.”
S.W.A.T. members eventually broke into the home, Gifford then finally surrendered peacefully.
He was taken to St. Luke Hospital to be evaluated.
