Man falls from roof of building in Newport

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — Newport police said that a man fell off the roof of a building in Newport Friday.

A spokesperson for the City of Newport said the incident occurred on Perry Mill Wharf along Thames Street.

The man fell almost 40 feet into the water, which he was pulled from by bystanders.

Police said the fall was not being investigated criminally but OSHA was involved.

The man was taken to the hospital, was “conscious and alert,” and believed to have suffered a pelvis injury.
