Man found guilty in fentanyl overdose death of Pawtucket woman

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Pawtucket man was convicted Tuesday in Providence County Superior Court on multiple felony drug charges, including delivering fentanyl to a women who overdosed on the drugs.
According to Attorney General Peter F. Neronha, Walik Morrison, 44, of Pawtucket, was found guilty of one count of delivery of a controlled substance resulting in death (Kristin’s Law), one count of possession with intent to deliver cocaine, one count of possession with intent to deliver fentanyl and a bevy of other drug-related charges.
Morrison was found to have delivered a mixture of cocaine and fentanyl to a 35-year-old Pawtucket mother on January 25, 2022.
The woman died from an overdose after her husband found her unresponsive and fire and rescue personnel attempted life-saving measures.
An autopsy on the woman determined that she had died from cocaine and fentanyl intoxication.
The report stated that the amount of fentanyl in the victim’s system was more than three times the average fatal level.
Police were able to link Morrison to the overdose after discovering texts between Morrison and the victim.
A warrant was obtained to search Morrison’s residence, and on February 15, 2022 detectives seized fentanyl, parafluorofentanyl, tramadol and xylazine in pill form.
A small amount of cocaine was also seized from Morrison’s home.
Morrison later admitted to crushing fentanyl pills and delivering the powdered narcotic to the victim instead of the cocaine she had requested.
Morrison is being held without bail at the ACI pending sentencing on march 24, 2025.
