Man from Puerto Rico facing murder charge after allegedly stabbing relative in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A 42-year-old man from Puerto Rico is facing a murder charge after police said he stabbed his relative to death following an argument in New Bedford.

It happened in the early afternoon on Saturday, August 24 on South Street.

When police arrived, 23-year-old Omil Padilla-Corsino was suffering from life threatening stab wounds.

Padilla-Corsino was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Juan Padilla-Santana was shortly identified as a suspect and charged with murder.

Police learned that the suspect is a relative.

Padilla-Santana will be arraigned in the New Bedford District Court tomorrow.

The Bristol County DA is still actively investigating the incident.
