A man was seriously injured after falling 20-25 feet down a brick wall off a bike path near Aleppo Street in Providence.
Providence Deputy Assistant Fire Chief, Joseph Desmarais, says the victim, a man in his 50's, was located after children playing on the bike path heard him moaning from below.
Rescue crews used ladders and repelling gear to get to the man on the ground where Desmarais described him to be in "bad shape" and "covered in flies." A rig system was then used to hoist the victim back up onto the path.
He was taken to the Rhode Island Hospital trauma room with unknown injuries, though he was semi-conscious during the rescue.
It is unknown at this time how long the victim was on the ground. Police and Fire are now investigating the circumstances of the incident.
The man's identity has not been released.
