Man killed after tractor-trailer crash in Marlborough

MARLBOUROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) – A Chelsea man was killed in an accident on Route 495 in Marlborough on Monday.

Massachusetts State Police said the crash happened on Route 495 south around 12:45 p.m.

According to a release, a tractor trailer was driving in the slow speed lane while the driver, a 33-year-old Michigan man, was looking for a safe spot to stop due to a tire blowout.

While the tractor trailer was finding a spot to stop, a 2018 Izuzu box truck crashed into the back of the tractor trailer, killing the box truck driver.

The driver of the box truck was only identified as a 42-year-old man from Chelsea.

According to State police, the driver of the tractor trailer was not injured in the crash.

The incident closed the left and middle lanes for 3.5 hours while an investigation was conducted.

Massachusetts State Police are investigating.
