Man killed in fatal New Bedford fire identified

The man killed in a suspicious fire in New Bedford has been identified as 29-year-old Justin Downey.

Around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning police and fire officials were alerted by neighbors who saw smoke coming from a home on Rounds Street.

Fire officials were able to contain the fire to the second floor of the home and quickly extinguish it.

Police and the District Attorneys office were called to the scene and a crime scene was established.

Currently, investigators are releasing no other information. The Medical Examiners Office is currently conducting an autopsy to determine the manner and nature of death.
