Man lays in Dunkin Donuts drive through, gets hit by delivery vehicle

BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE) – A man was pronounced dead today after Police arrived to the scene of a vehicle accident in a Dunkin Donuts drive through early Wednesday morning.

Shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, Bristol Police arrived to a Dunkin Donuts at 381 Metacom Avenue for reports of a car accident involving a pedestrian.

At the scene, Bristol Police discovered that a male victim had been hit by a 2017 Isuzu truck while laying in the drive through lane at the establishment.  

The operator of the truck, a 46-year-old male from Pawtucket, was delivering items to the Dunkin Donuts when he allegedly struck the pedestrian with the truck.

Bristol Rescue Personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The victim was not an employee at the Dunkin Donuts, and Police are still investigating why the victim was at the location.

The names of the driver and victim have not yet been released to the public.

The incident is currently under investigation.
