TIVERTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A man was rescued from a vehicle by the Jaws of Life in Tiverton on New Year’s Eve.

Police responded to a rollover crash around 6:20 p.m. Sunday on Stone Church Road near Sylvia Road.

Officers found the vehicle in the woods. The driver, a 25-year-old man, was taken from the car with the Jaws of Life and was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital by helicopter in critical condition.

The front passenger, a 27-year-old man, had non-life-threatening injuries and was able to remove himself from the overturned car.

Police said the vehicle was going north on Stone Church Road and left the roadway. Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
