Murder witness describes Fall River shooting

FALL RIVER, MA- A woman, who does not want to be identified, says she witnessed the murder of 20-year-old Anthony Carvalho.

She saw Carvalho being chased near the corner of Whipple and Osborn Streets in Fall River around 8 o’clock Friday night.

“The guy stood there and shot him right in the back. He jumped up like this almost fell and he ran down the hill,” said the woman.

The witness says there was a second shooter but the District Attorney’s office has not confirmed that detail.

She says she couldn’t see their faces because the shooters were wearing bandanas.

We do know one of those bullets entered a child’s playroom. I spoke to the mother off– camera and she says the bullet shattered the glass, ricocheted off a wall, and then hit her son’s toy. Her kids weren’t home at the time but they are all very upset.

Daisha Blithe’s family lives in the upstairs apartment.

“Could have went through our living room. Our bedroom is right above where there playroom is so you know we have a baby it’s just dangerous,” said Blithe.

Several witnesses say Carvalho ran down Osborn Street. Two more blocks and he would have ran straight to St. Anne’s Hospital. He was later taken there and pronounced dead.

Melanie Kingsly lives nearby. She said, “It’s kind of scary. We got a couple boys that you know walk around the neighborhood all the time. I’m hoping it was kind of a fluke, not something that’s gonna be happening all the time.”

No arrests have been made.

This is Fall River‘s second murder of the year.
