Man shot by Bristol police after allegedly following women to police station
BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE) — A man was shot by Bristol police after he allegedly followed women to the police station on Thursday night.
Police said the 39-year-old suspect followed two college-aged women after an incident at Colt State Park.
While he was not named, police said he is believed to be from Rehoboth, Massachusetts.
The women told police that he parked next to them at Colt State Park. They said he was naked and made hand gestures that made them uncomfortable.
They left the park out of concern for their safety, when the man allegedly followed, flashing his high beams.
The women called a friend for help, who advised them to drive to the Bristol police station.

When they pulled in, the man allegedly rammed their vehicle repeatedly. The women got out, screaming for help.
The spouse of an off-duty officer at the station heard the commotion and called for help.
An officer came out and shot at the suspect.
The women had minor injuries. The officer was not hurt.
The suspect was given medical treatment and remains in custody. Police said there is no threat to the community.
Police said the officer involved was not wearing a body camera because he was on administrative duty. There is surveillance video that is under review by the attorney general.
