Man shot by Pawtucket police during plastic gun incident to be arraigned
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Thursday morning, a man who was shot by a Pawtucket police officer will be arraigned in court.
On June 8, Pawtucket police responded to a report of a man with a rifle.
They found 28-year-old Sebastian Yidina allegedly pointing that gun at himself, and others.
Officer Thomas Letourneau then shot Yidana in the shoulder.
Body camera footage released from the city shows that, while Yidana was arrested, police found that the gun he was allegedly holding was a plastic replica.
He was charged with one felony count of assault by use of device similar in appearance to a firearm.
Yidana will be arraigned at 9 this morning.
Officer Letoruneau remains on leave.
The attorney general’s office is investigating his use of force.
