Man shot in robbery on Federal Hill
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A man was shot before he could hand over his valuables in an armed robbery on Federal Hill overnight on Monday, according to police.
Maj. David Lapatin told ABC 6 News a man was robbed at gunpoint as he sat in his car with a woman in front of the Walgreens on Atwells Avenue.
A witness told ABC 6 they heard a gunshot shortly after 1 a.m.
Lapatin said the man was shot before he had the chance to hand anything over. He said his injury is non-life-threatening.
Providence police taped off a section of Atwells Avenue as they placed evidence markers on the ground near a white car.
Lapatin said the man took some valuables and ran off.
No arrests were made and the incident is under investigation.
