Man stabbed and then arrested for second time in three months in Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Fall River police arrested a man who was stabbed in the city over the weekend — marking the second time he has been stabbed and then arrested in a three-month span.
Police said 34-year-old Vincent Valois was arrested after being stabbed on Pine Street Sunday.
Police originally responded to a call that a man was suffering from multiple stab wounds inside a car on North Main Street.
When officers arrived, police said Valois told them he was stabbed inside a home on Pine Street.
Detectives investigated the incident, and according to police, determined Valois drove to an apartment belonging to 43-year-old William Paiva even though he was not welcome there.
Police accuse Valois of then entering the apartment, stealing $100, stealing several prescription pills, and then trying to flee.
Police said Paiva chased Valois outside and a fight began.
That’s when Valois was stabbed in the neck and back, according to police.
When Valois tried to get in a car to leave the area, police said Paiva slashed multiple tires on his car.
Both were arrested — Valois is charged with breaking and entering in the daytime, which is a felony, along with unarmed robbery and assault and battery.
Paiva is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and malicious damage to a motor vehicle.
The previous stabbing incident occurred on Aug. 19.
In that case, police responded to a report of a man stabbed on Second Street at Wade Street.
Upon arrival, police said they found Valois bleeding from his leg.
Police said he was acting belligerent, refusing commands, and advanced toward officers in an “aggressive manner.”
Officers eventually used a TASER to try to subdue him, police said.
While he was being evaluated for his injuries, police said Valois was found to have powdered cocaine and crack cocaine in his possession.
Valois was arrested after declining medical treatment in that case, police said.
Police had also previously arrested Valois on Second Street for trespassing a day earlier, on Aug. 18, on South Main Street.
In that case, police said Valois ran from officers before being arrested, leading to the injury of a police officer involved in the pursuit.
At the time, police said Valois had multiple warrants out for his arrest and had a lengthy criminal history.
