Police: Man stabbed multiple times in the neck in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A 70-year-old man was stabbed in the neck multiple times on Monday, Providence police confirmed.

Police said it happened at the address for the Saint Elizabeth Apartments for Seniors on Westminster Street.

Officers responded to that location just after 4 p.m. Monday.

The man who was stabbed was not identified.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment, police said.

A police spokesperson did not elaborate on his condition.

Police said a 79-year-old man who lives in the same building as the victim was taken into custody at the scene and brought to police headquarters.

Detectives are still investigating the circumstances of the stabbing.
