Man shot, hospitalized after Providence shooting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Providence police are investigating a shooting that happened in the City Saturday afternoon.

A 31-year-old man was shot inside of a Ring Street apartment just after 2 p.m., according to Providence Police Commander Thomas Verdi.

The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he is in stable condition, according to police.

Police are still searching for the suspect responsible.

Neighbors tell ABC6 News they’re not used to stepping outside and seeing a crime scene.

“I personally didn’t hear anything a couple of our friends did,” said one neighbor, Kaitlyn Lane. “They just heard a loud bang.”
Lane told ABC6 News she’s never been worried about her safety in her Ring Street neighborhood, especially with its close proximity to tourist attraction Atwells Avenue.
“It’s an isolated incident, obviously I don’t know what happened, the details about it, so I would still say I’m not afraid to come out at night or anything still.”

This is a developing news story, more information will be added as it becomes available.
