The threat came in the wake of the current tension between Israel and Palestine.
Many local religious communities have been coming together in solidarity.
The Jewish Association of Greater Rhode Island recently held a community prayer vigil and started an emergency fund to provide relief for Israel.
The judge decided Johnson will be held on a $10,000 bail.
Johnson was also accused of not showing up to court over a dozen times, to unrelated cases.
Johnson has a pre-trial arraignment set for Jan. 25, 2024.
