Man who escaped custody onto highway in court next week
WALTHAM, Mass (WLNE) — A man is back in custody after attempting to make a brazen escape onto a highway in Massachusetts.
According to prosecutors, 20-year-old Victor Rodrigues DeMoura-Pereria from Brazil was originally arrested by ICE agents back in February for unlawfully entering the country.
On February 25th officials say Rodrigues was en route to the Wyatt Detention Center in Central Falls.
That’s when Rodrigues allegedly forced his way into the storage compartment, pulled the emergency release tab and jumped out of the backdoor onto the highway.
Police later caught him behind a building in Waltham.
He now faces one count of escape from federal custody.
He’s due in court on Monday, March 25th.
