DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — A wanted fugitive with a violent record was apprehended by Dartmouth Police Wednesday.

Royleton Haston, Jr., 22, of Plymouth, Mass. was arrested after a vehicle associated with the fugitive was seen at the Best Western Motel in Dartmouth.

Haston had seven warrants including assault and battery on a correctional facility employee, two counts of assault and battery on a correctional facility employee with a bodily substance and violation of an abuse prevention order.

Members if the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT team responded to the motel while detectives drafted a search warrant for the suspect’s room.

Haston was taken into custody without incident after the hallway of the motel was secured by SWAT members.

“Had it not been for the keen observation of a new officer, and the rapid response of the numerous assets available to us, it is more than likely that Haston, Jr. would still be putting the public in danger by once again eluding arrest,” said Dartmouth Chief of Police Brian P. Levesque.
